Road Trippin'

Every year my girlfriend and I put together a mini vacation just to get out of SD for a bit. I love these trips because they help me free my mind of the day to day grind of owning a business, let me recharge my batteries and also get inspiration. Last year we made our way up to the great north west. We loved it so much that we decided to do it again. This time we invited a few more friends to come experience it with us. We decided we would fly to Portland and drive back to San Diego via the California coast line, stopping along the way in Eureka, the Redwoods, San Francisco and Big Sur. We love Portland a lot, the food and atmosphere are especially rad to us. We decided to spend four days in the Portland hiking, eating the delicious food, and shopping. Some of the great places we ate were Pok Pok, Pine State Biscuits, Sizzle Pie, Khao Man Gai, Blue Star Donuts and Tasty and Sons. We did a lot of shopping as well and hit up Filson, Pendleton, Self Edge, Danner Boots, Imogene and Willie, Poler and Steven Alan. On the fourth day the crew piled in our big ass rental van and drove through the pouring rain to make it to our first stop in Eureka. From Eureka we mobbed through the Redwoods, this was actually my favorite part of the trip. The rain also added to the experience. It was almost like we were the only ones wandering through those giant woods that day.  At the end of the day's drive we found ourselves smack dab in the middle of San Francisco. Our friend Cha was kind enough to let us shack up at her place. She drove us around the following day showing us all the great places to eat and shop at. She also took us to a few cool tourist type spots to grab a few cool shots. The following day we got up really early because this was going to be the last day of our trip and the longest day of driving. We headed down the 101 cut over to Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel were we finally stopped in Big Sur. The drive down the 1 was truly amazing and was once again something I experienced for the first time. We ate at a really cool brunch spot and took our time, stopping at most of the scenic spots to snap pics and really take it all in. Although I took a lot of photos, my focus with the shots were more about the outdoor experiences and less about typical food pics and such. Please enjoy...
