Y'all know we're big Game of Thrones fans here at the shop. Since the fourth season ended we've been desperately looking for something to fill the void left in our lives. We may have found the answer in the world's favorite sport. Some of us down here on the block are big football (aka soccer) fans. Jay, Robert (HDQTRS) and Jordan (Product Etc.) played when they were younger. The rest of us, like most of the world, have caught World Cup fever and this takes both our interests to another level. Two things we really like, brought together by one guy's creativity.
Mash-ups, collaborations and logo-flipping are commonplace in today's Streetwear and Urban fashion. With sports and sports apparel being a big part of the culture, you see athletic fabrics, cuts and ideas brought forth in a lot of branding and design as well. In my opinion, the best mash-ups and collabs bring together aspects of different worlds and make them fit together in one. Two t-shirt companies throwing their designs/logos together is cool, but it's more interesting when the subjects come from different worlds and mesh into one, bringing their respective ideas/themes/cultures together.
That's exactly what Fashion Designer Nerea Palacios did when she re-imagined Nike's popular World Cup kits as if the World Cup was played in Westeros, aka the fictional world of Game of Thrones. Palacios conceptualized jerseys based off of the family houses and popular characters of the story/show, down to their house colors and mottos. Check out the images below and let us know which kit setup is your favorite!
