Welcome to the 5&A Dime soap box.

Back to the Future Day!

Jonathan Ikemura

Marty McFly went back to the future today (10-21-2015)! So every time you watch that movie, he's technically now in the past. Crazy to think about huh? Besides watching the movie today, we got to visit one of the landmarks of the film. The Twin Pines Mall! This is where it all started. I remember watching Back to the Future when I was just a kid, after the opening scenes I noticed something. Hey that's the mall I walk to everyday! (My grandparents liked getting their daily walks in). Watching Doc and Marty hang out in a place that I already knew, instantly connected me with this movie. You guys already know it's an awesome movie, so on to the pictures.

This Twin Pines Mall sign was built in the original spot. This is where Marty skateboards down to meet Doc. It wasn't working at the time, but that didn't stop people from trying to turn it on.

This is where Doc's van is parked. It would be hard for Marty to reach 88mph during these car meets though. But that didn't stop these Scions from trying to do the same.

While Doc's van may look very simple... The amount of detail in this thing is pretty amazing.

After peeking inside, I was pretty surprised. They even had Einstein's Milk-Bones on the dash.

Inside the mall they had a replica of the Delorean.

Of course they had to throw Marty's hat and hoverboard in there.

Since Back to the Future is one of my top movies, it was pretty awesome to actually see people get really into here in Rowland Heights. If I didn't have work today I'd be really tempted to visit Universal Studios and complete the experience.

Nerd Tip: During the lightning storm Doc and Marty's voices were drowned out from the powerful fans on set and all had to be redubbed.

Leave us some BTTF Nerd Tips, experiences, or don't.
